Rubbish Wisdom

Having no perception of time, my ability to socialise had been reduced to here-and-now observations. Engaging in conversation with a stranger at the bus stop was much to be seen:

“Look at that crisp packet blowing in the wind. See how it rolls and tumbles like a drunken gymnast. Lovely isn't it?”

The stranger examined me as if I had a sausage sticking out of each ear. I could see his judgmental thoughts - they were as clear as goldfish swimming in a bowl. He departed from my company with a slow shuffle in the opposite direction and nestled himself within the fortitude of his time-bound mind, where he sought a misdirected solace.

In the meantime, the crisp packet had gained considerable distance and momentum, performing triple-back somersaults and everything.

Still, we engaged in a brief dialogue, even if it was mostly non-verbal. But who knows, maybe he later became curious about my here-and now observation. Perhaps when he next sees a crisp packet blowing in the wind it will evoke an enlightened laughter in him, or even a simple smile
